A Warrior's Journey
Over the golden prairie I rode
And into the darkness of night
Upon my painted pony so bold
I was a glorious sight
Sought I the great medicine man
To help me along my way
Seeking the wisdom to make my stand
And to teach me how to pray
Sought I from him a medicine bag
To protect me from any harm
A piece of antler from a stag
An eagle's feather for a charm
Found him I did beside a lake
In peaceful thought and prayer
Beside him sat curled a snake
Approach him I did not dare
I sat and watched this holy man
From far away it seemed
As I did he began to stand
His eyes began to beam
And from his spirit rose a light
As bright as I've ever seen
I must admit it was an incredible sight
A confirmation of Law
Then he began to speak to me
In words I've never heard
It was then that I could plainly see
The Gospel of his Word
He said to me stand true and straight
For this is a warrior's code
And if you do you'll enter the gate
And with that off I rode
He did not give that which I sought
I know he gave me more
For with his words I was taught
And protection for what was in store
It seems to me the lesson learned
From this journey long since past
Is only the wisdom that I have earned
And the TRUTH of God that last
